First day of work was amazing!

First day of work wasnt bad at all! It was really interesting and i met many nice and very friendly people in the office! They are super laid back and the working environment isnt stressful at all. I like =) I even have my own work place and was at one point tempted to log onto msn to chat with David. HaHa.
Basically today was orientation for me. I was brought to different departments to be introduced and was shown around. Didnt realized my company was pretty big until i was brought to the auditorium and the gym room which was located on the fifth floor.
One thing that worries me about this job is that i am required to do alot of paperwork (set developmental goals with clients, develop an individualized family/child plan addressing family and child needs, etc), write reports after each session with my client, assess child developmental status, provide families with appropriate referrals and more paperwork to do T.T I admit im quite overwhelmed by the workload but im confident that I will get the hang of it very soon. This is what i always wanted to do and now that i have the opportunity, i will not waste it!
Okay, im pretty sleepy already. Hope tomorrow will be as wonderful or better than today.

Happy News

I am starting work on August 24th, 2009!!! yes, it is the official date ♫♪♪♫. wheee~

The day that ive been looking forward is just 4 days away! After being unemployed for almost 2 months, im now all ready to work my ass off. Super excited and i mean it.

To be honest im a tad worried too. Im afraid that i wont be able to handle the tasks that they give me or even worse, do silly things and embarassed myself infront of everyone. The thought of it makes me cringe. ugh.

I hope everything will turn out great.

So i have four more days to relax and enjoy my life to the max before stepping into the real world-work force.

Eat, drink, sleep, play, relax, sing, dance, shop, blog, cook, bake, shop, etc...

Lets toast. *cheers

till then ♥

La Maison du Macaron

I've finally satisfied my craving for macarons. After a whole night of researching, I've found a few very famous patisseries in NYC that sell french macarons. I realized that there are only a handful of them in NY that sell this pastry and almost all of them are high-end bakeries ...Financier, Kee's Chocolates, Payard, Bouchon Bakery, Madeleine Patisserie, Tisserie, David Bouley, and La Maison du Chocolat.

I decided to visit Madeleine Patisserie after looking at the very good reviews they received.
The sight of all the colorful macarons will blow your mind! There are seriously tons of flavors to choose from. I had a really hard time picking my macarons *swt*

This is the type of cafe i love- very cozy and beautifully appointed. When i stepped into the cafe, i thought i was in Paris for a few seconds.

I've been searching for that Eiffel Tower poster for some time. Thought of hanging it up in my bedroom. Anyone know where i could get it? ...besides Paris.

Tadaaa! These were the ones that i picked out of the many. Passion fruit, Apricot with mixed berries, chocolate and raspberry. The food was served on a doily on a nice silver platter--So French. I ♥ it!!
The outside of this pastry is delicately crisp, the inside is smooth, creamy and light, filling is luscious. It tastes like umm.. a combination of cake, icecream and very light cookie. wtf. ignore me.

I only sampled four flavors because it's ridiculously pricey. It's $2.50 for a tiny macaron (about 1.5 inch in diameter), literally one bite. Well, i think its worth the try though *grin*

Mom thinks Payard is better and said Payard is much more expensive *cry*. I however have not been to Payard before so cant compare.

Our afternoon tea costs around 30 bucks-a cup of coffee, a cup of hot chocolate, four macarons and a danish. Told you i have to save already.
After tea, we took a trip to Grace Church since sister said it's ridiculously pretty -_- Well, i think it looks like any other ordinary Catholic churches except that it was build 200 years ago. She claimed that it looks like a mini Hogwarts. lols.

Mom brought sister to Rockefeller since she hasn't been there before. As usual, that place was crowded with tourists from all over the world.

Next stop was at St. Patricks Cathedral- the largest gothic style catholic cathedral in the US.

We had our dinner in one of the famous japanese shops located at Japanese Street called Oh!Taisho. If you are thinking about sushi and sashimi then you are wrong. OH! Taisho is well known for their yakitori. Hmm..thinking of it makes me salivate. The food was as great as usual and most importantly, the food is decently priced.

Time to go to bed.

Till then ♥

What are you craving for!?!?

Who said cupcakes are trendy and pretty??! It is french macarons that are amazing! Just look at the pictures and they'll make u salivate like there's no tomorrow.

Eventhough i've never tried it before, but hey that doesnt stop me from adoring and craving for this very pretty and delicious looking french pastry!

This is what i call love at first sight. I am very sure it is gonna taste so good even without having to try it. Even if it tastes horrible, i will still insist that it's delicious. I doubt things that are pretty like this will taste horrible. Most unlikely will happen, right???

So, can some kind hearted soul please tell me where i could get this pretty looking pastry in New York? I promise i will treat you 100 macarons and unlimited cups of coffee for a year if you could do this favor for me. LOLS. I WAS JUST KIDDING, YOU GREEDY LIL PIG! I haven't forgotten about Google!

Alright, its about time for me to do a little research to figure out where to get this yummy treat! I really cant wait to try one.

Which is or are your favorite(s)? OR Which one do you think you would try? As for me, I'll definitely try ALL if possible unless if im broke and cant afford to buy more than two, i'll choose coffee, pistachio, rose petal, mango with jasmine, lily of the valley, raspberry, eh more than two already. wtf!??! i guess i have to start saving for this.

till then ♥

Absolutely adorable song <3

If you are born in the 80s or the 90s, you will definitely know Super Mario. I hafta say it is one of my favorite video games up until today.

The title of this song is "Mario Kart Love Song" and it is composed by this gentlemen, Sam Hart. Im currently in love with this song so freaking much. Very sweet and catchy. <3

You be my princess and I'll be your toad
I'll follow behind you on rainbow road
Protect you from red shells wherever we goI promise.

Noone will touch us if we pick up a star
If you spin out you can ride in my car
When we slide together we generate sparksin our wheels and our hearts

Chorus: The finish line is just around the bend
I'll pause this game so our love will never end
Let's go again

The blue shell is coming
so I'll go ahead
If you hang behind
it'll hit me instead
but never look back
cause I'm down but not dead
I'll catch up to you

Bridge:Don't worry about Bowser or DK
Eat this glowing mushroom
and they'll all fade away

Chorusx2
to the mushroom cup
and the flower cup
and the star cup
and the reverse cup

What's home to you?

To me, home is a place where my family and true friends are. Its located nine thousand miles away from the place where im at now T.T I miss them alot and sometimes wonder whether they'll miss me as much as i miss them.

Home is where i feel secure, safe and loved. I can wear whatever i want and behave in whatever manner i want and nobody will judge me for that. In other words, home is a place where i can truly be myself.

Home is a place where i first experienced and learned the meaning of "love". It is a place where i can obtain unconditional love.

Home is where I hear the rapid and noisy clattering of the mahjong tiles as they are shuffled.

Home is a place that will always be stored in my mind, no matter if im far or near from it.

Home is where i share a tiny bedroom with my other two sisters and still feel very comfortable.

Home is the best place to eat.

Home is a wonderful feeling.

When i steped into this grocery store and saw all these snacks, instant noodles, drinks, can food, Malay words printed on the package, etc i felt as though i was back home once again. The smell, the sight, the sound of this place is very nostalgic!

Okay, i am homesick! Yes im pretty sure i am. T_T

PS: Mi Mi snack reminds me of SuetLi and Jamie. If im not mistaken, they used to love em.

PPS: Unlike most of you, im special. I have two homes but the one that i mentioned above and miss most is the home back in Malaysia.

“Home is one's birthplace, ratified by memory.”

The other side of me

Many of you might not know but I always have an interest in interior designing *shy*. Not to the extent where i wish i could be an interior designer or help design your future crib or whatever that you're thinking but you know, just plain interest. Like, I LOVE going to Ikea/Ethan Allen even just for window shopping and if im in a bookstore for example Borders, I'll go to the "home and hobbies" section to look through some of the interior design/home decorating books for fun. Im pretty sure i used the right adjective? But whatever, i know you get my point. So, as i was looking through some blogs just now, I came upon a blog called Belle Maison created by an interior designer named Julie. I gasped when I saw all these beyond aesthetically pleasing images featured on her blog and thought that i should share some of the one that i like here with you. Most of the images posted on her blog were taken from outside sources but she has her own home designs too.

dont you just love the colors of this living room? sitting in this living room will definitely brighten up one's day.

Photobucket

Im a big fan of pastel colors. They make everything look so serene and comfortable. Agree with me?

Photobucket

Simple and nice. enough said.

Photobucket

green and brown is not a bad combination after all. This bedroom has a very "earthy" look.

Photobucket

Great idea to recycle tea tins!! Love it and will definitely try doing it.

Photobucket

Ahh...every girl's dream! I guess i will never gonna have a walk in wardrobe as big as this in my life. However, i would want to have a chandelier like the one in the picture for my future house. Chandeliers are pretty!

Photobucket
Definitely gonna have a lovely pink chair like this as well. I wonder where to hunt for a chair like this? simply irresistible.

Decision-making mode

"Life is never easy." I totally agree with that phrase. At one point in our life, we all have to make important decisions about major life goals be it to choose a marriage partner, having a divorce, giving birth, aborting a child, choosing one job over another and whatsoever. Making this decision is absolutely different from making minor decisions that we most often do in our daily lives.

How are we gonna know which is the right one? If i have to choose one thing over the other, 95% of the time i will tend to choose the wrong one. FML i know. So, looking at my decision-making trend, I have completely lost all my confidence in making a good decision. I think i have now developed decidophobia!sad1

fork in the road Pictures, Images and Photos

Whatever it is, i still have to choose. Which road career should i take now?

Job A : Pays decent but not much of a challenging career. No health benefits hence, not a union job. But, I always have a passion for working with children and working in an environment like that. Main reason to consider this job is because i want to gain experience working in a setting like that so that in future (when i have the opportunity), i can establish an organization similar to that.

Job B : Pays 30% more than job A and it is a union job hence it comes with health benefits. Very challenging job in fact im afraid i'll be overwhelm by it. This company have sponsored OPT applicants before hence i stand a chance to be sponsored too (but not guaranteed). Quite a prestigious company. Relavent to my field and have alot of room to grow.

So how now brown cow? A or B?

Saturday with the loved ones

I spent a wonderful afternoon with mom, sister and David yesterday at Hell's Kitchen (If any of you are wondering where's that place, NO its not a restaurant. Hell's Kitchen is a neighborhood of Manhattan in NYC. ) Sister and I love going to flea markets and since she did some research on flea markets in NYC, she recomended me to go to the one in Hell's Kitchen since it is the most famous outdoor urban flea market in New York.Hell's Kitchen Flea Market opens from 9am till 6pm every Saturday and Sunday. We all got out of bed quite late hence we left home at around 3pm and reached there almost 4pm.

That's the entrance to the flea martket. Most of the vendors started packing when we reached.
Should have gone there at noon. Oh well, whatever.

This flea market sells alot of vintage things like clothing, jewelry, cameras, furnitures, you name it and they have it there! They even have vintage signs! Most of the things are reasonably priced and if you posses great endurance and have time to search around, i'm sure you will definitely come up with gold. As for me, i wasnt that lucky. I uhhh...just bought a ring. fml.
My purchase of the day! More valueble than gold. Its a......*drum roll* wooden ring. wtf. If i have more time to shop, trust me, i'll find things that are more valueble than gold.
Sister bought a white wool beret. It looks good on her, not me for sure. David bought himself a money clip. Dont have a picture of it but im sure all money clips look the same.

When we reached Hell's Kitchen, mom was extremely hungry. So she suggested that we should eat before we shop. We dined in a nearby restaurant,
HK Restaurant which turned out to be a restaurant served by homosexual men *note: not insulting or discriminating*.

Very unsatisfied with their service tho. I bought a Venti Iced Coffee from Starbucks before that and i had less than 10 sips. The waiter doesnt allow me to put it on the table hence he put my coffee away at the bar and PROMISED and reassured me that they will keep it. When we finished, i asked him back for my precious coffee, and he told me that the bartender threw it away! wtf. You have no idea how mad i was! Its not about the money, its about the principle! ugh. That's him on the left in the picture.
My mom is a food connoisseur. Im not even kidding. She can easily discriminate every single ingredients in most of the food without even looking at the recipes. She is a very picky and demanding woman.
Nevertheless, she's still our lovely and superb mom. We love you, superwoman ♥

I love superboy too ♥

After flea market, mom and sister went their own way. David and I went for movies at Times Square. We watched two movies in a day but we only paid for one movie. How? Just sneaked into another theater after the first one. We planned the time ahead before buying the tickets. How intelligent right?

We watched Bruno and The Hangover. Both were freaking hilarious!!! I like The Hangover more than Bruno eventhough both were equally good. One thing nice about watching movies here in the US is that movies will not be censored at all in theaters. How nice is that?? Anyway, i strongly recommend to watch those two movies. Its a must. You will regret if you dont. Oh wait, if you have to choose one, then ill say watch The Hangover since Bruno will be censored like hell in Msia. I like the quote Bruno made about Osama bin Laden. "Your king Osama looks like a dirty wizard or a homeless santa claus" LMFAO.

Saw a pink limousine on the road at Times Square. Reminds me of Paris Hilton who owns a pink Bentley that i want so badly.
This is how Times Square looks like on a Saturday night. Apparently, it looks like New Year's Eve every Saturday night here. Very interesting eh?

"ObamaCondoms are strong enough to withstand the most rigid assault, light enough to penetrate the deepest trenches, AND they’re Oprah approved!* not really" Should have gotten some and mail it back to my girlfriends back in Msia. Im sure they will appreciate that. lol

After movie, we made a trip to 53rd and 6th to get the most famous chicken and rice in NYC. Stayed in line for almost half an hour! The picture speaks a thousand words.

They were not queueing to enter a fancy restaurant nor waiting for seats, they were waiting to get to the food cart for a plate of hot and yummy chicken and rice. This place reminds me of Lysha Teh! She was the one who introduced us to this amazing place!

I ended my day eating chicken and rice with my loved one at home watching Law and Order: Special Victim Unit. BLISS~

Till then ♥
